I have shot the Colt Ace.22 conversion on my 1911 a few times, no problems. I have almost NIB Service Ace that has yet to fire a full mag without a hangup. Aces are great for collecting and maybe as an investment but for me, all other.22 autos I have had have been better as a shooter.

Sights / Optics: This pistol is mounted with a square notched flat topped rear sight adjustable for elevation and windage and a blade front sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are full checkered walnut panels with gold Colt medallions. The right panel has a compession below and forward of center, otherwise there are only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is sharp outside the compression. The grips rate in about Fine-Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is only light operational wear and light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide to frame fit is tight and the trigger is crisp. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a total of one blued 10-round magazine marked 'COLT / CAL. 22 L.R.' on the floorplate. The magazine has intact feed lips, a strong spring and light operational wear, in about Fine condtion.
Our Assessment: The Colt Ace was first introduced in 1931 as a .22 Long Rifle pistol similar in shape and manual of arms to their famous 1911 Government model. As with some other Colt models, production was not continued after WWII until popular demand encouraged their reintroduction. Post-War Service Model Ace pistols were produced from 1978-1989. This example is in Excellent condition with little sign of use and none of abuse. It comes with a finish-matching 10-round magazine in Fine condition. This would be an excellent addition to a Colt pistol collection, especially one which has Aces, but no post-war Aces. Please see our photos and good luck!
