Mauser C96 Serial Numbers
Folks,
Just picked up my first Broomhandle. Looks all original and has all matching parts with reagard to SN's. From everything I have been able to find out it is a Wartime Commercial with the New Safety. However it has a 4 digit SN 81XX. It also has 666 or 999 under the rear tangent sight.
It has no import or other markings that I can see other than the standard stuff.
I have read some about certain contracts? With that SN it should be an early conehammer, 1897 right?
Any ideas would be welcome.

Mauser Schnellfeuer, Serial no. 13072 (matching numbers in appropriate spots on firearm). Mauser logo stamped on left, Waffen Fabrik Mauser Oberndorf a. Neckar D.R.P.u.A.P on right.
